OK, we may have stopped our binge and can be back for a little while. We upgraded to Wordpress 2.5 after seeing this picture. That’s how powerful the picture is…..did you ever look like this? I like how the picture is making fun of a geek, but at the same time confirming the geekness some FireFox fanboys display.
First one to name the computer and peripherals he’s using gets five bucks to your paypal…ha.
Yahoo Live started up out of nowhere on Thursday, and I’ve been hooked ever since. This site was a big fan of “Live Video” types websites during CES, but I’ll admit that I haven’t watched Justin.tv that much. Yahoo Live has less viewers, but it seems like it’s a better opportunity for new kids on the block….especially hot talented singers like Sheena Melwani!
There have also been crazy drunk puppets, including most of the Muppets cast, on the Hot Puppets Yahoo Live channel the past few nights.
Like I said, hot awesome singers and hot puppets, Yahoo Live is gettin’ pretty hot!
If you were watching TV in the 80’s, with your dad yelling at you for turning the channel dial too fast, then you more than likely have an affection for KITT. Knight Rider Two Thousand that is, with the still well-known David Hasselhoff as Michael Knight behind the wheel.
Welcome to the future and the new Knight Rider Three Thousand driven by the son of Michael Knight, who is ironically also a soap opera star as was The Hoff-mesiter. Although not a Trans-Am, the new Ford Mustang Shelby version of KITT is pretty cool. It can hack any network, communicate and control things through power lines and Internet, and it can also morph into different cars! That’s right, it has a “KITT Attack” version which sounds kind of like when the original KITT went into Turbo Boost mode, and also a self-driven “KITT Remote” version.
If the two-hour NBC television movie goes well, there could be a possible new series. At least they are off to a good start; instead of dissing the former stars of the show as other remakes have done, David Hasselhoff plays a guest appearance roll which supposedly somewhat ties the plot together.
Here is a two minute Knight Rider trailer from NBC, which airs on February 17th.
The best thing about the new KITT - he doesn’t sound as gay.
The recent post here on how to See Through Clothes with Photoshop received a ton of hits through search engines, so let’s give the people what they want. You already know the geeky method of adjusting image levels in Photoshop to see through light colored clothes of famous hot chicks. Now, how would you like to use an “X-Ray Video Camera” to film the female colleagues at your next office party, or the chicks at the Senior Prom, or….well the list could go on and on and this site doesn’t want to be responsible for what you do with the x-ray video camera.
You need a video camera with night vision (many Sony and other cams have this feature). Then develop a blank roll of 35mm film, cut out a section of the developed film large enough to tape over your camera lens, and off you go! The “developed film filter” blocks out all light except infrared, which you can’t see naturally, and allows you to see through clothes! The video, hosted by the geekiest of geeks, shows how you can see though panties, see through a bra, see through bikinis and see through a bowling pin. What a combination.
Here could be a good geeky reason to finally get an iPhone for you sitting-on-the-fencers out there. Especially if you are a Guitar Hero geek, now you can try playing a “real guitar” on your iPhone. I mean, why pay a couple hundred dollars for an acoustic guitar or Mexican Fender when you can pay $80 for Guitar Hero, $160 for Rock Band and $399 for an iPhone so you can “play guitar?” …rant off.
For the serious guitarist who already has an iPhone, this looks pretty cool using Apple’s multi-touch feature. When you have free time and need to work on that Steve Vai lick - whip out your iPhone, put on your iPhone strap, reach between your legs and get your geeky rock on.
PocketGuitar is available as a free Google Code project download and can be installed on the iPhone and iPod Touch.
Here is a very funny video of Mitt Romney, on Martin Luther King Day, visiting with some black kids. If you listen closely, you can hear Romney say, “Who let the Dogs out? Hoo! Hoo!”.
At 2:35 into the video he also says, “You’ve got some bling-bling, too,” while admiring a baby boy’s gold necklace. Geeky Drunk won’t get into politics much here, but this video was too funny to pass up. David Letterman said it best, “Mitt Romney looks like he’s the closer at a Cadillac dealership”.
Could this be a geeky equivalent to the Howard Dean catastrophe?
You won’t believe the size of this guys mouth. That’s a can of beer (or lovely beverage of your choice) in his mouth - sideways. And being rotated around.
This clever video shows a true master of geekdom, he is drunk with geekness, and has the Photoshop power to take geekiness to a whole other level. Selecting the shirt of an unsuspecting hot actress with the magic lasso tool, adjusting the image levels, and playing with a little dodge and burn -and you can see nipples! Check out Christina Aguilera’s nice nipple ring for example…all sorts of good stuff.
All you need is a picture of a hot chick with light clothing, and the above steps to get the “X-Ray Filter” Photoshop technique. Get geeky with it!
You might think it’s a silly question, but think about it. The average Joe can now build a website from scratch with very little knowledge using Wordpress.com. If you have a descent web host, you can install the self-hosted version of Wordpress with one click via Fantastico and never have to FTP a file. The ease of use and focus on usability by Wordpress has enabled basically anyone with half a brain to design their own website.
How will this affect Dreamweaver? From my personal experience, in the past several months I have only opened up Dreamweaver once to create a table for a Wordpress site. With over 40 websites currently online, only one of my sites was designed with Dreamweaver and is a static html website. The other 39+ sites are all using Wordpress or another CMS / open source back-end.
Why? It’s easy. Using Fantastico I can install a basic framework of a website in one click. I can quickly FTP my favorite Wordpress theme and plug-ins, and in a short time I have a very nice looking dynamic website. If I get tired of the look of the website, I can change the theme with one click. That’s simply not possible with your typical non-template static website created in Dreamweaver.
So why pay $399 for Dreamweaver CS3 when I can download the latest Wordpress version from Wordpress.org for free? The list of reasons I have for buying Dreamweaver are getting shorter by the month, and I expect as more advanced plug-ins and themes are developed for Wordpress, the less I’ll be using Dreamweaver. I don’t think I’m the only one…
The BUGbase from Bug Labs has a 532Mhz processor, memory card slot, USB, Bluetooth and a very small LCD with button controls. It is a “base” that you can easily snap BUG modules onto. It’s kind of like building blocks or LEGO’s for the geeky kid still in us, but it’s really a very cool modular computer based on open source hardware and software.
Do you want a bigger LCD with touch capabilities? Well of course you do so you can see what the computer is doing and control it easily…just snap it on! Do you want GPS? Snap on the GPS BUG module. Do you want 3G? Snap on the 3G BUG module. 5 mega-pixel camera? Accelerometer / Motion detector? …you get the idea.
You can snap on up to four of the 2″ x 2″ BUG modules to the small BUGbase device, and there are going to be 80 BUG modules for you to buy and snap on. It is open source running Linux and Java apps so hopefully you’ll be able to get some help with writing the code to get the modules to run and do some cool stuff. It sounds like a good opportunity for some smart hackers to write programs and make modules for the geeky masses.
For the early adopter geek in you, you can buy the BUGbase right now for $299, versus the normal price of $349. The BUG modules are also discounted for 30 days - check out Bug Labs. To further your geekness, here is a good video of the BUGbase.
