Samsung Home Cell Phone Tower / Repeater
Now, I think this might work better than the cell phone antenna booster stickers you are supposed to stick on your cell phone to get better reception. The UbiCell that Samsung displayed at CES 2008 will improve the cell phone reception in your house – guaranteed. And this isn’t a guarantee from a truck stop off the interstate, or an infomercial you watched while staying up too late – this is Samsung. Call me drunk and too geeky, but I believe them.
You plug the “home cell phone tower” into an existing broadband connection, which is very interesting and has the brain cells slowly trying to come back alive in my head. It can cover up to 500 feet, so it would be perfect for my basement (where I get one bar on my cell phone) and my wireless router which is located up two floors. I am constantly running upstairs from the basement so I can hear the caller and make sure my connection doesn’t end.
With full cell phone reception all across your home, you could really get rid of you regular old-school (non-geeky) phone line. It’s not on their site (or anywhere on the Internet), but Sprint is supposedly selling this now, which is funny because it’s due to Sprint’s sucky connection that I have poor reception anywhere in my house except in front of a window!
